CALL TO ORDER

The meeting was called to order by PRESIDENT JACK PETE= RSON at 7:30 PM.  Twenty-three memb= ers attended along with five visitors for a total of 28 persons.  The meeting was held at Blind Tiger Restaurant and Brewery.

 

INTRODUCTION OF VISITORS<= /o:p>

Members introduced SCOTT COTTRELL, DIANE LIERTZ, STEVE WEDEKING, EVERETT DEHAVEN, AND ANDY RETALLICK.

 

APPROVAL OF MINUTES

The minutes of the previo= us meeting were approved.

 

TREASURER’S REPORT<= /o:p>

The Treasurer was unable to attend and no report was g= iven. 

 

COMMITTEE REPORT= S

 

20th ANNIVERSARY PARTY

WALT DARLING gave a recap of the upcoming 20th Anniversary Party.  It will be= held on Saturday, June 16th at the Blind Tiger.  The party will start at 6:00 and is scheduled to go until 10:00.  Forty-three tickets were sold in advance.  JOHN LONG noted that the club made arrangements with the Blind Tiger for 50 persons, in case there were some attendees that were unable to register in advance.  The plan calls for 50 persons, each paying $10, to attend the party, with the club picking up an additional $13= per person. 

 

JOHN DEAN noted that the room would be very crowded and likely that no tables, other than a food table, would be set up in order to provide room for people to mingle.  <= /span> 

 

PROGRAM

 

TASTING OF TRADITIONAL PILSNERS

LLOYD BECKER, Club Brew-Master, arranged for a tasting= of numerous beers imported from central Europe.  They included the German Style:  Bitberger; Oettinger, Pinkus, Warseiner and Stiegl (an = Austrian beer in the German style).  Al= so compared were Czech beers: Pilsner Urquell; Bud= weiser Budvar; and Starophramen.  Members were given time to make co= mments and notes on each type of beer.  While the pilsner style was not many members favorite, many positive comments were made about the tasting, the way it was conducted, and the experience of having the opportunity to try so many beers in a single setti= ng.

 

 

 

 

SCHEDULE FOR FUT= URE PROGRAM TOPICS

 

The JULY meeting will be a taste comparison of home-br= ewed beers and a commercial beer.  = The style of beer will be STEAM.  = A recipe for an Anchor Steam clone was distributed at the meeting.  Members indicated that there were = five volunteers that had brewed steam beers for the taste comparison.

The AUGUST meeting will be a demonstration and explana= tion of counter-pressure filling devices.

 

OLD BUSINESS

 

COLLECTION OF= MONIES FOR 20TH ANNIVERSARY PARTY

In CHRIS HEDQUIST’S absence, monies for the anniversary party were collected by WALT DARLING.  Members paid $470 for 47 tickets, leaving a balance of only six tickets not yet paid for.  All extra tickets were purchased.<= span style=3D'mso-spacerun:yes'>  JOHN DEAN provided wrist wraps so = they could be provided to those purchasing tickets.

 

NEW BUSINESS

 

COLLECTIBLE GLASSES AND T-SHIRTS

WILLIE MADL, JIM MADL, AND TOM STARTUP collaborated to create a logo for the 20th anniversary glasses and T-shirts.  That logo was sent by email to all members with email addresses.

            <= /span>Noting that there was no further business to come before the club, the meeting was adjourned.  The President decl= ared the motion to adjourn for social tasting passed at 8:32 PM.

 

HOUSEKEEPING SPECIAL NOTES

 

TASTER GLASSES:  = The glasses used for tasting during the meetings must be cleaned at the end of = each meeting.  Please don’t r= eturn your glasses to the storage box until after the glass has been cleaned.

 

FACILITIES:  A= s we use “free” facilities, we do our best to keep the facility as clean= as possible.  All members are exp= ected to help police the area prior to leaving to ensure that our relationship wi= th our facility “host” remains friendly. 

 

BOTTLE RECYCLING:  A= t the end of meetings, please dispose of glass bottles separately from dishes and food scraps so that they can be recycled.&= nbsp;
