| COMMENTS The Barn was a surprising find "off-the-road" in a small town in the Hills. Robert Phelps owns and operates the Barn and enjoys meeting and talking with people. Today, the building is anything but the barn it used to be. It is well accommodated and impeccably clean. With substantial seating, it is a fun meeting place for people of all ages in this community. On the day we arrived, a cook-off was being conducted to raise money for a local charity. The local cooks were each working to out-do the others with their ribs, brisket, chili and soups. The Barn serves a limited list of beers, primarily in bottles, and the list covers the American Major brands. They have only a couple taps, but they take care of the local business. Robert indicates that business is steady, but during the Sturgis Rally Days, he uses the 80 acres behind the building as a campground for those attending the Rally. The Barn can cut a hunger, but only provides pizza and appetizers. French fries are $1.00 and Onion Rings $2.00. If you want more to eat, Chicken Strips are $4.50; Breaded Cod at $6.00; Shrimp Basket $5.00; or a combo basket at $8.00. The pizza is 12" and is only $10. Walt (Kansas) - 11/01/2008 |
