Hub City Brewing is still located on the farm where it was created.  No longer a farm, this brewery is
expanding from a 15 barrel system to a 75 barrel system.  Brewer B. J. Knobe is proud of what has
been created in such a short time and of the volume that the brewery is selling to thirsty patrons in
Iowa.  The brewery has a set of staples that they offer year-round such as their Golden Ale, Brown
Ale, Old Browne Porter, the Oatmeal Stout and the Wheat.  At the time we were there, they also had
their seasonal "Summer Ale" available.

The brewery does not have a restaurant available, but has a very nice tasting room and a group of
friendly family and staff members ready to explain what they are doing to help Iowa's shortfall in
available local beers.  Assistant-Brewer Bob Slack was on hand to provide a sample of the IPA they
are testing prior to release.  All of their beers are available for testing in the tasting room and they
will provide their beers in bottles and kegs.  Their beers are available across much of Iowa and the
distribution will be expanding with the addition of their new equipment and a new contract with a
large mid-west distributor.

I found the Oatmeal Stout to be one of the best I have tasted and highly recommend it to those that
like that style of beer.  I also found the IPA to be one of the best - it is more of a California style beer
with a high load of hops, both on the aroma side and on the bittering side.
