FLAT BRANCH HISTORY
FLAT BRANCH PUB & BREWING opened its doors on April 18, 1994 in historic downtown Columbia, Missouri. The pub gets its name from
the nearby creek which was the water source for Columbia's first settlers.

The town of Columbia was platted around the 1820 cabin of Thomas Duly at the present day southeast corner of Broadway and Fifth.
Early town planners made Fourth Street - Then called Water Street because of it proximity to Flat Branch Creek - considerably wider than
the streets east and west of it, intending for it to be a main thoroughfare. Early businesses radiated from what today is known as the
"Flat Branch" area.

FLAT BRANCH PUB & BREWING occupies a 1920s era brick warehouse with a curved, barrel-trussed roof that was once a Studebaker car
dealership. It has housed Buick, Oldsmobile and Rambler dealerships, as well as cabinet-makers, over the years. FLAT BRANCH is
Columbia's first brewery since 1841.
